大自然善变。刚刚还是“无边落木萧萧下”，转瞬间，已是“阴阴夏木啭黄鹂”，更不用说“沧海变桑田”，“白云变苍狗”。人世易变。“旧时王谢堂前燕，飞入寻常百姓家”，怎不令人怆怀？而“千门万户曈曈日，早把新桃换旧符”，又何其喜气洋洋！“人世几回伤往事，山形依旧枕寒流”，在不变的江山面前，人世的急变又令人多么茫然仓皇。而“沉舟侧畔千帆过，病树前头万木春”，又给人无限希望。
西哲有言：“人不可能两次踏入同一条河流。”而子在川上曰：“逝者如斯夫，不舍昼夜。”变，恰如江流滚滚，时刻不息。
变，几家欢乐几家愁。否极泰来，朝为田舍郎，暮登天子堂，自然喜；而泰极否来，福无双至，祸不单行，又叫人黯然神伤。世上之人，能泰然处变者，又有几人？
《红楼梦》写宝玉，喜聚不喜散；写黛玉，则与之相反，喜散不喜聚。取向不同，本质相同，都害怕聚散无常，害怕变，怎一个怯字了得。所以我说，能处变不惊者，方是上哲，方是英豪。
东坡居士的《赤壁赋》，能在“变”中看到“常”，故能宠辱皆忘。而人们在吊唁场合，对逝者家人常说的一句“节哀顺变”，若能做到，实属不易。道家对“变”持一种无可无不可的态度，“知其不可奈何而安之若命”，看似冷漠，却能做到随物宛转，聚散随缘，也要有一副大胸襟。
事实上，并非“变”外面另有一个“常”，而是“变”即“常”，“常”即“变”。认清这点，应事即会有圆机。人对“变”保持一份开放的心态，也就可以活得豁达从容，哀乐无动于衷。中山先生有句名言：“世界潮流浩浩荡荡，顺之则昌，逆之则亡。”也就是看清了“变”乃万物的本质。能顺变，就能自我更新；不能顺变，也就自然被淘汰。所以《周易》有言：“穷则变，变则通，通则久。”适应变化的格局，时时革故鼎新，人生自然节节高。朱熹有言：“问渠那得清如许，为有源头活水来。”若无源头活水注入，再清的渠水，最终也会变成闻一多笔下的那潭死水。
怕变，就会故步自封、坐井观天，就会丧失对新生事物的那份敏感和好奇；顺变，就能推陈出新，圆转如珠，时时敞开怀抱，吸纳源头活水。要记住，人生虽然变幻莫测，但也恰因其变幻莫测而多姿多彩，这正如一场球赛，正因为结果的不确定，比赛的魅力才充分凸显出来了。
坦然接纳人生的“变”，无论是变好，还是变坏，都应看成人生的财富。和风丽日，雨润烟浓，固然美好，黑云翻墨，疾雷破山，也是人生一景，怕它作甚？
